An interview with Travis Peagler, author of the book entitled "TREPIDATION: Darkness and Light Can't Coexist"
By Guy Boulianne | On 07/11/2018 | Comments (0)
Travis Peagler is a very unique individual, from being the youngest of seven kids, raised partially in low-income apartments on the East side of Dayton, Ohio until the age of nine. Humble beginnings growing up in a somewhat multi-racial neighborhood gave Travis an inimitable perspective on life at a very young age.
His imagination has always been his outlet. Thinking back to grade-school when he was in an uncomfortable situation or when he didn’t handle conflict well, Travis would always replay the scene again in his mind where things played out the way he wished. An innate defense mechanism he assumes. However, that’s when he discovered that he was a quick thinker and could really make up some cool stories with his wild and vivid imagination. Slowly, he began to embrace this wonderful gift of mastering words, creating stories, and make-believe characters.
A Supernatural Religious Horror Novel
It’s always been said that man fears what he doesn’t understand. Ignorance of not knowing the truth and beginning of all things comes with a price. Therefore, many fall victim to the everlasting carnage of a spiritual battle that is unseen. Once a child of light, Tyler is seduced into a world of evil and dark figures as the beauty of one girl blinds and dulls his Godly intuition.
Unleashed from the loud cracklings of Hell, Legion, an elite dark angel, ascends to the earth. Commissioned by his Dark Lord Lucifer to claim the souls of infidels, Legion finds it tempting to claim the soul of Tyler; a one-time young Christian prodigy who's now fallen by the wayside.
If Legion wants to ascend and be promoted to the highest amongst his dark ranks, he must consume a child of light. With untapped supernatural abilities of his own, will Tyler be able to fend off Legion and his horde of internal-dwelling demons, or will he be easily consumed like many before him, and perish with no solace?
Trepidation Book Trailer
How many books have you written? If more than one, are any a series…or trilogy?
So far two (The Little Guy and Trepidation), with more in the pipeline.
Are you a self- published (Indie) Author?
Yes, one day I plan to publish traditionally, but right now, I’m all Indie!
Do you find yourself intrigued by the cover of a book enough to buy it?
Yes, as long there is engaging substance beyond the cover.
Do you have any advice for other writers starting out?
Love, discipline and pace yourself. You should love what you’re writing, discipline enough to see it through, and take your time.
You are trapped on a tropical island - who would you like to be stranded with?
A beautiful woman, if my wife is not available, hahaha. One must be prepared to keep humanity going if all else fails.
What inspired you on this book?
Honestly, I thought it would make a great story to take some of my real life experiences, coupled with some Bible references, and mix it up with my imagination. I really wanted to display what a real battle of good and evil would like if many hidden spiritual things made themselves known in our modern time and life.
Why did you want to become a writer?
Not trying to take the easy way out of this question, but honestly, I was born a writer. I’ve been telling stories and making up stories since I was like six years old. For me, my imagination was too vast to contain. As a writer, certain stories must be told, like a prisoner screaming to be set free, only then will the voices go away. Ha, I’m just joking, or am I?
What was the hardest part of creating this book?
The rewrites, since writing this original some of my best mates has passed on, in which I shared many of my supernatural encounters with them. But at the same time, I know they would be thrilled and excited.
What do you hope people gain from reading it?
A new sense of spirituality, by making them seriously question the reason for our human existence and honestly question evolution. Think about it; if something evolves, the former is no longer! If we evolved from monkeys, why are there many different species of monkeys and apes that still exist? And if they still live, where are the Neanderthals and every other made-up being on the evolution chart? We’re so much more than flesh and bone.
Why should we buy your book?
For one, it’s an excellent story, depicting the battle of good and evil through the eyes of a teenage boy. Regardless of your religious beliefs, many of us watch Vampire movies, but we really don’t believe in them, I hope, hahaha. Honestly, it’s a remarkable original story that displays how the Devil stalks each and every one of us. Hopefully, I didn’t just scare the hell out of you!
